Når Melinda Ashley Meyer DeMott i dag hjelper mindreårige flyktninger med å finne fotfeste, kan hun bruke erfaringer fra sin egen barndom.
Og så var det den om sykepleieren som var så lei av legen som aldri ga seg med hjerte- og lungeredningen. Til slutt sa hun tørt: «Ja, får du liv i denne, går jeg ned i lik-kjelleren og henter én til!»
Barn som stadig er «forkjølet», kan ha den sjeldne sykdommen primær ciliedyskinesi. Veien frem til en diagnose kan være lang, og noen foreldre opplever at de ikke blir tatt på alvor av helsepersonell.
I demensboligen Haugsåsen har beroligende tabletter blitt erstattet med økt kunnskap om uro, tilstedeværende pleiere og et miljø pasientene kjenner seg igjen i.
Sauherad har fått til flere heltidsstillinger, faglig utvikling og mer kvalitet i tjenestene uten at regninga ble større. Hvordan er det mulig?
Prosedyrer som blodprøvetaking og sårskift blir mindre smertefulle for barn når de får en lettere sedering administrert som nesespray.
Kreftoverlevere kan lett bli overveldet og miste motet av omgivelsenes forventninger til at de etter behandlingen skal leve og fungere som før.
