Demens er redsel, angst, uro og usikkerhet. Det er frykt for å gjøre feil og følelsen av avmakt. Det er raseri og kanskje apati over å ikke kunne gjøre seg forstått.
Under pandemien har dagaktivitetstilbud og sammenkomster for eldre vært avlyst og stengt. Eldre er blitt mer ensomme og isolerte, og belastningen på de pårørende har økt.
– I en hektisk arbeidshverdag er det de pasientnære oppgavene som prioriteres ned; å unnlate å utføre de administrative oppgavene medfører avvik, skriver Flobak, Johansen, Vesterås og Skogan.
Det å ta vare på barnet sitt tenkte hun var det viktigste en mor skal gjøre. Så klarte hun det ikke lenger. Ellen Arnstad skriver om da hun måtte overlate omsorgen for sin multihandikappede sønn til profesjonelle.
– To brødre har kommet på julebesøk med kone og barn til mor denne julen. Jeg kjenner lukten av pinnekjøtt når de viser vei til min pasient som ligger i sykeseng. Hun er terminal, skriver sykepleieren.
